SUMMER 2022 COVID-19 PROTOCOLS

Our team is more thrilled than ever to return to Camp Reece in July for one of our best summers yet! Accommodation and differentiated instruction have always been specialties of the Camp Reece Team, which means we are more than equipped to have a fun-filled summer while taking the necessary precautions to keep your camper safe.

The information below is intended to provide families with an understanding of how Camp Reece will approach COVID-19 prevention protocols and hopefully, some peace of mind. These protocols are based on consultations with healthcare professionals, CDC guidelines, the American Camp Association, and other science and fact-based organizations. The Camp Reece Team deeply understands the trust that you place in us to care for your camper, especially after a year of uncertainty. We do not overlook that trust and it is our utmost priority to keep campers and staff safe. These protocols are an augmentation of the purpose that Camp Reece has always pursued – empowering our campers with new skills, self-confidence, self-esteem, and social-emotional growth, all while having fun! We are certain that this empowerment will not be hindered in any way as we adhere to these COVID-19 prevention protocols. Safety, social-emotional growth, and fun can all co-exist at Camp Reece. We look forward to an incredible summer in the Adirondacks and we cannot wait for camp to start!

Testing

As a method of ensuring the safety and health of our campers and staff, we will require the following as it regards to testing:

      • Families must test up to 7 days prior to leaving home.
      • Campers and staff will then test again within 4 days of arriving at camp.
      • Campers and staff will be tested once more during each camp session.

In the case of a positive test result, that individual will have to quarantine on site for the CDC recommended period of time. The quarantined individual(s) will have plenty of activities and ways to have fun. The exposed ‘pod’ will be monitored for symptoms and regularly tested to prevent any spread.

Masking

Masks have proven to be highly effective in preventing the spread of COVID-19 when they are properly worn within proximity of others. The following protocols are required:

      • All campers and staff must bring multiple appropriate masks to camp and wear them at the required times.
      • Until all tests are received and confirmed to be negative, all campers and staff are required to wear masks except when eating, bathing, or in their quarters.
      • Campers and staff are required to wear masks when indoors except in their own living quarters. When outside and appropriately distanced, campers and staff can have their masks off.

Groupings

Campers will be split into two separate pods based off of age. Each pod will have their own camp counselors to maximize efficacy of social distancing protocol.

Healthcare & Cleaning

Camp Reece has ensured that there will be a full-time nurse on camp premises at all times.

We have developed robust cleaning practices that will be strictly abided by to further limit transmissions. The practices are as follows:

      • Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces within the camp facility and any shared transportation vehicles at least daily or between use as much as possible. Use of shared objects should be limited when possible or cleaned between use.
      • Develop a schedule for increased, routine cleaning and disinfecting.
      • Cleaning products should not be used near children and staff should ensure that there is adequate ventilation when using these products to prevent children or themselves from inhaling toxic fumes.
      • Ensure safe and correct use and storage of cleaners and disinfectants, including storing products securely away from children. Use products that meet EPA disinfection criteria.
      • Use gloves when removing garbage bags or handling and disposing of trash. Wash hands after removing gloves.
